In 2017, I will be beginning my 14 year of teaching and two years with DD4. My teaching career began in Tennessee for 5 years and the remaining 9 years here in South Carolina. I have taught all three levels; 9 years in High School, two years in Middle School and three years in Elementary.

My name is Tamara Washington and I am entering in my 14th year of teaching and my second year in Dorchester IV. I received my Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Master degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Tennessee State University (2001 and 2003).

I began my educational and coaching career in Nashville TN at Hillwood High School ( one year) and later served as Head Track and Head Varsity Basketball coach for three years at Whites Creek High School (Metropolitan Nashville Public School, MNPS). I then left education to return to my alma mater Tennessee State University and serve as an assistant coach for one year before returning to South Carolina in 2008 to teach elementary PE in Colleton County. After three years at the elementary level I transitioned back to high school to teach (Physical Education) and coach at Colleton County High School (CCHS) Walterboro, SC. After a three year stint there I moved to Rock Hill after accepting a teaching and coaching position at Nation Ford High School.  2016-2017 school year, I returned back to the low-county to teach physical education at the greatest middle school in Dorchester IV, Harleyville-Ridgeville Middle School.

I looking forward to new and exciting adventures with the students, faculty, and staff here at H-RMS.
