During halftime of Friday night’s game against Colleton County, the spotlight turned from the field to an inspiring group of current and former Dorchester District Four students. The Back to the Basics Foundation introduced themselves to the community with a mission that is both simple and powerful: to support Saint George, Dorchester, Ridgeville, Harleyville, and similar towns in returning to the core of well-being by staying active and taking back control of their health.
The foundation believes that every community deserves the opportunity to thrive, and that begins with creating healthy spaces where families can grow strong together. Their message struck a chord with the crowd, connecting health and community strength with the values shared across Dorchester District Four.
Leading the team are several proud DD4 representatives: alumni Nyra Govan, Alison Bannister, and Peter Smith III, along with current Woodland High School students Justice Pryor and Emani Holmes. Their presence on the field symbolized the bridge between past and present, as both alumni and students joined forces to serve their hometown.
“We want to see our community moving, active, and thriving,” said team members as they encouraged families to follow their journey online. The Back to the Basics Foundation can be found on both Facebook and Instagram, where the community can meet the team, track their progress, and join in their efforts to create healthier spaces for all.
Dorchester District Four is proud to celebrate the leadership of its alumni and current students who are working to make a lasting impact our local communities and beyond!
