Clay Hill Elementary came together Friday for its 2nd annual Speak Life Event, a celebration that is quickly becoming a favorite tradition for students and staff. The day focused on the heart of the Speak Life Movement, using our words and actions to encourage, motivate, and lift one another up.
This year’s theme, “Be the Light, Share the Love!”, challenged students to see themselves as leaders and difference makers in their school community. From colorful handmade posters to cheers and laughter in the gym, the energy was nothing short of inspiring.
The special guest for the day was Michael White, Principal of Woodland High School, who brought a powerful and heartfelt message. He reminded students that they are the most important part of Dorchester School District Four and spoke about the light that lives inside each of us.
“Darkness only has one job, to make you afraid,” he told the crowd. “But when the lights go out, you find another light. It’s okay to be the only one in the room doing what’s right. Encourage yourself, encourage others, and never let anyone dim your light.”
White also challenged students to put an end to laziness once and for all, declaring September 19th as the “last day for laziness at CHES.” He led students through an imagination exercise, closing with the reminder that they are the light of the world, and the only way to drive out darkness is to shine.
Students showed off posters filled with positive messages like “Be Kind,” “Kind Hearts Grow Here,” and “You Are Strong & Courageous.” Teachers and staff joined in the celebration, cheering alongside their students and filling the gym with joy.
The event captured exactly what the Speak Life Movement is all about, building a community where kindness, encouragement, and positivity take center stage. As CHES continues this tradition, the message is clear, be the light, share the love, and speak life into the world around you.
