Dorchester School District Four will recognize three outstanding employees as the district’s newest Everyday Heroes during the Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, December 16. The Everyday Hero program honors staff members whose dedication, character, and daily service strengthen schools and support student success. Honorees receive a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative coin from Superintendent Dr. Becky Beckwith.
The first honoree is Latorsha Bryant, Assistant Principal at Woodland Middle School. Ms. Bryant is known throughout the school for her steady leadership, problem-solving skills, and commitment to students and staff. Woodland Middle School Principal Benji Kennedy, who nominated her, described her as a trusted and essential presence on campus.
“Ms. Bryant is simply awesome. She balances her responsibilities as a school administrator and parent. She puts in the time and effort needed to make WMS successful. Her organizational skills are second to none. When no one knows the answer, Ms. Bryant does. She is all over WMS helping students, parents and staff. Ms. Bryant is a great example of what it takes to be a Woodland Middle Wolf.” Her calm leadership and deep care for the school community make her invaluable to Woodland Middle School.
The district will also honor Lakisha Pigatt, Math Interventionist at Clay Hill Elementary School. Ms. Pigatt was nominated by Assistant Principal Kimberly Hartzog, who highlighted her dedication to students and her willingness to support colleagues whenever needed. “Ms. Pigatt is always willing to lend a helping hand to both students and staff. Her passion for education is evidenced by her enthusiasm and dedication to her students. Clay Hill is blessed to have Ms. Pigatt as our Math Interventionist.” Her steady presence and commitment to student growth have made her a trusted member of the Clay Hill Elementary School family.
The final honoree for December is Paula Huggins, Fourth Grade Teacher at Clay Hill Elementary School. Principal Alisa Lemon nominated Ms. Huggins, praising her creativity, data-driven instruction, and positive energy. “She is the kind of educator whose impact is felt not only in her classroom, but in every hallway of our school. Her dedication, creativity, and commitment to excellence set her apart and make her a true champion for students. In her classroom, she uses data with purpose, tailoring instruction to each student’s needs and strengths. Her engaging classroom transformations turn ordinary days into extraordinary learning adventures. Her influence extends beyond the classroom. Each month, she brings the school to life through imaginative themes and decorations that immediately make everyone feel welcome. Her work transforms our building into a place of joy and excitement.” Ms. Huggins embodies the spirit of the Everyday Hero program through her passion and her commitment to creating a school environment where children love to learn.
Each of the honorees will remind the community that true impact is not always found in the spotlight. It will be seen in steady hands, quiet dedication, and daily choices that keep schools strong and students thriving.
