Christian Green and Desmond Cain, both members of the Class of 2025 at Woodland High School, spent their high school years in the Marching Wolverines Band under the direction of Mr. Quenton Atterberry. Christian played percussion. Desmond played saxophone. Together, they helped carry forward a strong tradition of music, discipline, and pride.
Today, both young men are students at South Carolina State University and proud members of the university’s legendary Marching 101.
This weekend, that journey comes full circle.
Christian and Desmond will perform with the Marching 101 during the BET Super Bowl Soulful Celebration, part of the national countdown to the Super Bowl. The program airs Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern and will be hosted by former Carolina Panthers quarterback and NFL MVP Cam Newton.
From Friday night lights at Woodland High School to a nationally televised Super Bowl weekend event, their path reflects years of work, consistency, and commitment to their craft. It also speaks to the impact of strong music programs and dedicated educators who help students discover what they are capable of becoming.
Dorchester School District Four is proud of Christian Green and Desmond Cain and proud to see DD4 alumni representing their school, their community, and their university on a national stage.
