Dorchester School District Four will recognize two outstanding employees as the February Everyday Heroes, honoring individuals whose daily work makes a meaningful difference for students, staff, and the district. These individuals will be formally recognized during the March 18 Board of Trustees meeting.

The Everyday Hero program highlights employees who demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and a strong commitment to supporting the success of DD4 schools. Each honoree receives a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative coin from the Superintendent as a symbol of the district’s gratitude.

One of the February honorees is Coach Eddie Ford, history teacher and head football coach at Woodland High School. Coach Ford was nominated by several district administrators who praised his unwavering commitment to students and staff across the district.

At Woodland High School, Coach Ford teaches history and leads the football program, but his service reaches far beyond those roles. In addition to coaching and teaching, he drives a yellow school bus in the afternoons, volunteers to drive buses for field trips and other athletic teams, and helps in the concession stand during games and school events.

Coach Ford also coaches and drives for the Dorchester School District Four Unified Sports program, helping ensure students have the opportunity to compete and experience the benefits of athletics. Beyond the field, he works closely with student athletes and their families to help them pursue opportunities to play football at the college level while continuing their educational journey.

Those who nominated him shared that Coach Ford consistently makes sure students have what they need to succeed. He builds strong relationships, encourages hard work, and models the kind of character that leaves a lasting impact on young people. His dedication is especially notable because he makes the drive from Barnwell each day to teach and coach at Woodland High School.

The district also recognized Mrs. Tiffany Strong-Moorer, Special Revenue Accountant in the Finance Department. She was nominated by Chief Finance Officer Mrs. Penny Hutto for her exceptional work behind the scenes supporting the financial health of the district.

In her nomination, Mrs. Hutto noted that much of Mrs. Strong-Moorer’s work happens quietly in the background, yet its impact reaches every school, program, and department that relies on accurate funding and compliance. She manages a complex portfolio of grants and special revenue sources with great precision, ensuring programs remain compliant and district funds are tracked accurately so resources can best support students.

Mrs. Hutto also praised Mrs. Strong-Moorer for the positive spirit she brings to her work. Known for being approachable and helpful, she is always willing to assist others and works diligently to prevent problems before they arise. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to supporting others make her an invaluable member of the district team.

Through their service, leadership, and dedication, Coach Ford and Mrs. Strong-Moorer continue to make a lasting impact on the students and community they serve.
