Woodland Bands at action

Last Saturday, Woodland High School was proud to welcome bands from across the region for the 8th Annual Low Country Battle of the Bands, sponsored by USBands. The event brought together talented students, band directors, staff, families and supporters for a day filled with music, school spirit and competition.

A special shout out goes to all of the schools and their band programs that came out and helped make this event a success:

Columbia High School
Fairfield Central High School
Military Magnet Academy
Timberland High School
Battery Creek High School
Cross Keys High School
Dillon High School
Hopewell High School
Lower Richland High School
Richland Northeast High School
W. J. Keenan High School
Bradwell Institute
Darlington High School
Marlboro County High School
Woodland High School

The Woodland High School Marching Wolverines also showed a lot of dedication throughout the event. Band members helped organize different parts of the event, welcomed visiting programs, guided band members and directors to where they needed to go and helped keep things organized throughout the day. This showed that being a band member is not only about performing on the field, but also about leadership, teamwork and serving others.

The Marching Wolverines also took the field with their 2026 production, “The Wood Family Reunion.” The students have put in many hours of practice to prepare for this season, and it was great to see their hard work represented at their home event.

Special credit goes to Mr. Quenton Atterberry, Director of Bands, Mrs. Yolonda Bennett and Mr. Jonathan Cooper, Assistant Directors of Bands, along with the rest of the Woodland band staff and the MGM family for their leadership, planning and dedication to making this event possible.

Hosting the 8th Annual Low Country Battle of the Bands was a great opportunity for Woodland High School to bring schools and communities together through music. We are proud of all the students who represented their schools and showed what dedication and teamwork can accomplish.

Thank you to all the visiting bands, directors, staff, volunteers, families and supporters who helped make this years event a memorable one.
