Dorchester School District Four will recognize two employees as October Everyday Heroes, and they will be presented with their awards at the Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Ms. Dawn Daniel, Teacher Assistant at Williams Memorial Elementary School, and Mr. Jason Brewer, Teacher at Woodland Middle School, will be honored for the difference they make in the lives of students.
The Everyday Hero program shines a spotlight on employees who work behind the scenes, helping schools operate effectively while making a positive impact on students. Each honoree will receive a certificate of appreciation and a distinguished coin from the Superintendent as a token of the district’s gratitude for their service.
Ms. Daniel was nominated by Dr. Prince Brewington, Principal of Williams Memorial Elementary School, who praised her willingness to support students in every way.
“Dawn Daniel epitomizes selfless dedication and unwavering care for her pupils,” Dr. Brewington said. “At Williams Memorial Elementary, Ms. Daniel has assumed a bigger role, providing support in any capacity for her classroom, instructionally, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally. Regardless of the need, she does not mind lending support.”
Dr. Brewington noted that Ms. Daniel’s impact reaches beyond her classroom, as she helps ensure her grade level has the support it needs, from everyday logistics to long-term goals. He also highlighted the positive spirit she brings to the school community.
“Ms. Daniel brings an infectious positivity to everyone who comes in contact with her,” Dr. Brewington said. “Parents, students, and colleagues feel the indelible impression that she leaves. We are honored and privileged to have Ms. Daniel as an indispensable member of our WMES family.”
Mr. Brewer was nominated by Ms. Markayla Busby, Assistant Principal of Woodland Middle School, who said his commitment to students shows in everything he does.
“Mr. Brewer is a man of few words; however, his actions speak volumes,” Ms. Busby said. “There is not a day that goes by that he does not go above and beyond for his students. He not only challenges his students to reach their full potential but also takes the time to build meaningful relationships with them.”
Ms. Busby described Mr. Brewer as dependable, supportive, and always willing to help wherever he is needed.
“His dedication to his students and our school does not go unnoticed, and he is truly deserving of this recognition,” she said.
Ms. Daniel and Mr. Brewer will receive their awards at the October 20 board meeting. Dorchester School District Four congratulates them both and thanks them for their dedication to students and schools across the district.
